Selling your Sézane, Sandro, Maje pieces in Caen: how much you'll actually get

"I want to sell my designer clothes, but I don't know how much I can get for them." This is the question I receive most often. Here are the real figures, brand by brand, and the commission scale applied at Éthique et chic by Manon.

Average Resale Prices, Brand by Brand

First and foremost: these ranges are indicative. The price depends on the condition, cut, season, model, and rarity. But it gives a good general idea.

Sézane

The star of French second-hand. The market is dynamic, especially for iconic models (Will, Gaspard, Lou, Joe, etc.).

  • Dress (Will, Gaspard): €40 to €90
  • Sweater / fine knit: €30 to €70
  • Printed blouse: €30 to €65
  • Trousers: €30 to €70
  • Coat / trench coat: €80 to €180

Sandro

Holds its value well, especially structured pieces (blazers, formal dresses).

  • Blazer: €80 to €180
  • Dress: €50 to €120
  • Cashmere sweater: €60 to €130
  • Leather jacket: €150 to €350

Maje

Highly sought after for fluid and feminine pieces.

  • Dress: €45 to €120
  • Top / blouse: €30 to €70
  • Skirt: €30 to €75

Ba&sh

The secret of Parisian wardrobes, highly coveted.

  • Silk dress: €70 to €180
  • Sweater / cardigan: €40 to €90
  • Coat: €90 to €200

Rouje

Jeanne Damas's brand sells well, particularly dresses and shirts.

  • Dress: €60 to €140
  • Linen shirt: €40 to €90

A.P.C., Isabel Marant Étoile

Safe bets for a minimalist wardrobe.

  • A.P.C. jeans: €50 to €110
  • A.P.C. sweater: €40 to €90
  • Isabel Marant Étoile jacket: €120 to €280
  • Isabel Marant Étoile dress: €80 to €200

Devernois, Gerard Darel

Classic brands that sell very well to a more mature clientele.

  • Devernois tailored trousers: €40 to €85
  • Gerard Darel wool knitwear: €35 to €80
  • Gerard Darel bag (depending on model): €40 to €250

Commission Scale Simply Explained

The more expensive the item sells for, the higher your share. This is intentional: it encourages you to entrust your valuable, high-quality pieces, and it rewards quality.

  • Selling price up to €30: you receive 40% (the shop's commission covers photo costs, online listing, shipping)
  • Selling price from €30 to €60: you receive 50%
  • Selling price from €60 to €150: you receive 60%
  • Selling price over €150: you receive 80%

A Concrete Case: Léa, Consignor in Caen

Léa lives in Mondeville, on the outskirts of Caen. In April, she entrusted me with 18 items: dresses, sweaters, jeans, a Sandro leather jacket, and a Ba&sh blazer.

After 3 months, here's her summary:

  • 14 items sold (out of 18)
  • Total revenue: €972
  • Léa's share: €539 (paid by bank transfer, in stages)
  • Unsold items: 4, which she chose to entrust to me for an additional 3 months (her Sandro jacket sold the following month for €280).

Léa spent zero hours photographing, responding to Vinted buyers, printing labels, or handling disputes. That's the promise of consignment: you get a decent share, without doing anything.

How I Determine the Resale Price

I cross-reference four elements:

  • The new price (brand catalog or market reference price)
  • The actual condition of the item (new with tags, excellent, very good, good)
  • The secondary market (I observe Vinted, Vestiaire Collective, other online consignment stores)
  • The desirability of the model (a Sézane "Gaspard" from a popular season sells for more than an ordinary model)

You receive my estimate before final validation of the consignment. If you find a price too low, we can discuss it — but experience has shown that my estimates are on average 10 to 15% higher than the average of generalist consignment stores, because I have a targeted eye on these brands.

What Increases (or Decreases) an Item's Value

What increases value:

  • Original tag still present
  • Current or approaching season (a trench coat in September)
  • Model "identifiable" by brand fans (a Sandro "Lola," a Rouje "Gabin," etc.)
  • Sought-after size (36-40, but also 42-44 which are rare in second-hand)
  • Very good condition with bright photos

What decreases value:

  • Small visible defects or pilling
  • Out-of-season item (a swimsuit in November)
  • Common, unoriginal model
  • Very small (32-34) or very large (46+) sizes that sell slower

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I choose the price of my items?

I set the price according to the market, but it's a discussion. If you have a price in mind, we can talk about it. The goal is for the item to sell quickly at a fair price — not to sit unsold at too ambitious a price.

What if you lower the price without telling me?

Progressive markdowns over the weeks are possible up to 20% of the initial price. Beyond that, I will ask for your agreement. No surprises.

When do I receive my money?

Payment is made by bank transfer within 8 days after each sale (allowing for the buyer's withdrawal period). For regular consignors, we can group transfers monthly.

Can I withdraw an item before the end of the consignment period?

Yes, provided it is not already reserved or in the process of being sold. Please notify me by email, and I will send it back to you.
